The lot at the intersection of Buckland Street and Pleasant Valley Road was the cite of a shootout at 2:45 a.m., police said. Two suspects have been arrested.
It’s the same parking lot where, a week earlier, two people were fatally shot.
When officers arrived on the scene to respond to a report of shots being fired, they initially could not locate any suspects or weapons. But as investigators fanned out, they discovered multiple loaded firearms.
Manual Polanco, 24, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Jesus Omar Rivera-Gonzalez, 26, of East Hartford were each charged with: failure to comply with commuter parking regulation, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon, and breach of the peace in the second degree, police said.
They are each being held on $10,000 bond and are due to be arraigned on Sept. 1.
Connecticut State Police are still investigating the situation and are asking for any witnesses to come forward and call (800) 534-1000.
This is the second time in a week that the Buckland Street parking lot has been the scene of gunfire. On Sunday, Aug. 2, during a large gathering, two people were fatally shot in the commuter lot: Gregory Scott, 24, of Massachusetts, and Jennifer Hicks, 20, of Springfield.
